Who are the mediators? Mediators are people who have been professionally trained in the mediation process. They are all volunteers. Each mediator has been cleared by the Criminal Records Bureau. When they visit you, everything you tell them is strictly confidential. The only other body who will have a record of the meeting is the ESCM office. Mediators are independent. They do not work for or report to anyone else, e.g. councils, the police, housing associations. Some mediators are trained in work such as Mediation within Families or Mediation in School. Volunteering Become a mediator: our service is always looking for new people to train as mediators. If you are interested in this, contact us to find out more. We also need volunteers from time to time with administrative or financial skills. These roles require no more than about 2 hours a week. Volunteers have an opportunity to meet as a team once a month. Governance ESCM is an independent registered charity which provides a free community service within Reigate & Banstead and Tandridge, solving conflict and disputes between neighbours, teenagers and parents, with schools, etc. For a list of problems we can help with, click here. We have a volunteer management committee, about 20 professionally trained volunteer mediators, and staff and volunteers who run our office. Partial financial support is provided by Surrey Police, Reigate & Banstead and Tandridge Councils, Raven Housing Trust and other housing associations and grant-making trusts. Donations are always welcome. |
